Slammer

A FULL THROTTLE, FREE FALL EXPERIENCE

About

Slammer was one of two new rides open for the 2005 season, along with Rush. Built by S&S Worldwide, it is the only existing ‘Sky Swat’ in the world – a truly unique ride! Shaped like a giant fly swatter, the ride takes you up to an impressive 75ft before flipping riders over their heads in the world’s only free-fall ride experience! At its highest point, Slammer rips through the sky at a whopping 105ft at 35mph, standing proud next to Colossus and towering over X. After three sky-flying, head-first rotations, the whole gondola slows down and flips you back over again. The ride rotates faster than its earlier years and is one of Thorpe Park’s most intense flat rides.

You won’t know which way up the world is meant to be as you roll over and over and over again. Forces both significantly above and below true gravity are submitted on your whole body, lifting you out of your seat as you plummet to the ground and forcing it back into your seat when you’re pulling back skyward. The ride rotates faster than its earlier years and is one of Thorpe Park’s most intense flat rides. It’s a thrill you can only find at Thorpe Park, so be sure to add it to your list of must-do rides when you visit or you’ll be missing out!

The restraint system is in two halves. The lap bar can be pulled down tightly and remain comfortable but the shoulder harness should be lowered to gently rest on your shoulders. Pulling it down too tightly can result in a very uncomfortable ride.

To Ride Slammer you must be at least 1.4m tall. People approaching a chest measurement of 51 inches should try the test seat at the entrance or speak with a rides host. There is a maximum rider weight limit of 110kg (17.32st)
