Amity
The latest news live from WWTP Radio warns us another Tidal Wave is on its way and everyone must head to the Amity Cannery immediately to evacuate the area!
Amity, the first major area to be installed after The Tussauds Group purchased the park, is an example of how good the theming of a regional park can be. Set in the fictional village of Amity Cove, an American fishing community, which has been ravaged by regular Tidal Waves, actually created as the splash from the Tidal Wave ride.
Destroyed buildings such as a Gas Station and Church are prominent from the main area, while others have faired the destruction fairly well. This theme is kept consistent in the main area with a shark embedded in the building housing the parks KFC food outlet, hinting heavily at a connection to the Jaws film franchise.
The area was extended to include the Amity Speedway when Stealth opened in 2006, themed around a racetrack next to the village. WWTP Radio extends here, with a different loop. Though Amity is divided by Big Easy Boulevard, the American theme throughout doesn’t create a jarring experience!
Rides and Attractions
Shops and Retail
Thorpe Park Megastore
Located in the heart of Amity, the Megastore has pretty much everything you’d ever want! Not only does the shop have a dedicated Amity merchandise area, as well as a Walking Dead section for the ride’s exit, there’s also merchandise from all major attractions across the park here too! Along with a wide variety of sweet treats, the Megastore is well worth a visit if you need a touch of retail therapy in your day!
Amity Beach Shack
Located on Amity Beach, but with windows serving both the beach-side and pathway, a selection of drinks, snacks and ice creams are available here. There may also be, on occasions, beach supplies here.
Note: May be closed on quieter days.
Food and Drink
Specialising in, gyro-style kebabs, Amity Kebabs offers a meal deal including chips and salad, along with a pitta filled with different types of meat for a kebab which really hits the spot!
KFC
Easily noticed with the giant shark crashed through the entrance, KFC offers a limited menu compared to your standard high street KFC, but with the same secret receipe!
Burger King
Another American-diner feel restaurant, Burger King offers a slightly more limited menu compared to your standard high street, and can be slightly more expensive.
KFC and Burger King are exempt from any promotions, including Annual Pass discount, that the park may offer.
Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop
In need of cooling down after your race on Stealth? With a variety of Ben & Jerry’s flavours, some which you may struggle to find in stores, you can have a small ice cream, or create your own sundae or milkshake!
Donut Factory
Located next to Storm Surge, the Donut Factory is one of Merlin’s more recent in-house food offerings. Offering donut sundaes (a donut topped with ice cream and various toppings), as well as plain donuts, this is a must visit if you have a sweet tooth!
Granny’s Apple Fries
Apple fries are exactly what they sound like – apples cut into the shape of chips, and cooked just like them. A treat that originally was big in America, they’re just as sweet as they sound!
Dockside Snacks
Located just by Tidal Wave’s splash zone, a selection of bottled drinks, slushes and ice creams are available to help you cool down on those hot days.
Churros, Waffles & Shakes
In need of a hot drink, or maybe some churros? Then this is the place for you!
Note: Annual Pass discount is NOT available here!
Doughnut Time Van
A variety of specialist doughnuts, all quirkily named after celebrities
