Hyperia Launches at Thorpe Park
The UK’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster opens at Thorpe Park!
Hyperia has today opened at Thorpe Park, standing at an impressive 236ft tall, Hyperia takes the record from “The Big One” at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Hyperia opened to the public at 10am, not before a spectacular launch ceremony including fireworks, pyrotechnics and even planes flying over to celebrate the launch of the record breaking rollercoaster.
With huge demand expected, Thorpe Park put in place a number of measures to ensure the launch went smoothly, including the installation of temporary queue line fences running all the way from Hyperia up to the end of the admissions bridge.
Despite people waiting up to 5 hours to experience Hyperia, the launch went extremally smoothly, with the ride just suffering short amounts of downtime throughout the day as is expected with any new ride.
With park hours extended to 8PM and Hyperia having around a 2 hour wait at park close, many also took the opportunity to get in some night rides!
