The games have begun. It’s time to make a choice: Live or Die. But beware, it’s not just the roller coaster you need to worry about…2009 saw Jigsaw, the master criminal antagonist in the Saw films set up shop in an abandoned warehouse in a dark corner of Thorpe Park known as ‘Saw Island’. Shrouded in mystery, the warehouse conceals the dark horror of Jigsaw’s deathly games from prying eyes. Occasionally, brave souls venture into the compound, lured in by the challenge of surviving Jigsaw’s ultimate trap. Boasting a vertical lift hill and a 100 degree ‘beyond vertical’ drop, the structure rivals Stealth as one of the most imposing rides at the park with its twisted black track, weaving in and out of traps and overgrown woodland. Warning: there are mild spoilers of the experience below! Brave – or foolish – guests enter the warehouse and climb up to Jigsaw’s lair at the top of the building to the sound of screams echoing through the vast metallic emptiness. Upon boarding, riders are briefed on their challenge from Billy the Puppet before being taken deep into the yawning depths of Jigsaw’s warehouse. After the indoor section, you climb the 100ft vertical lift and plunge straight into an Immelman loop, quickly taking you behind the warehouse; the rest of the layout cleverly concealed from anyone not in the queue. Saw is one of Thorpe Park’s most popular and successful coasters, though it is also the one that splits opinion the most. One thing is for certain though – Jigsaw will test your body to the limit as Saw is one of Thorpe Park’s most intense coasters.
