Thorpe Park is overrun by Walkers and there is but one goal: survive. The Safe Zone converted a roller coaster into a transit system to help them reach their sanctuary, but there’s more problems in store.
Warning: there are some light spoilers below!
For 2018, Thorpe Park converted X, a ride that often suffered an identity crisis, into The Walking Dead: The Ride. You enter through a large watchtower, a throwback to the Prison Arc of the TV show, where you’re told the island has been overrun by Walkers (zombies), and entering is the only way to survive. After a long walk in low lighting (and with lots of special effects), you reach the roller coaster.
The ride itself features plenty of special effects, with audio, lighting and screens all enhancing the experience. Trouble might even occur when the train comes to a sudden stop midway through.
If you do survive the ride and reach the Safe Zone, you might think you’re safe. But the experience doesn’t end there, with more jump scares in store.
The Walking Dead The Ride is a very different type of ride experience, as it doesn’t just solely rely on the ride system. The pre- and post-show experiences help round out a good experience, which brings a Fright Nights-feel to a ride!
On some days there may be actors within the experience. A sign outside the entrance, as well as staff outside the ride, can confirm if this is the case.
