What happens when you encounter the Buckwheats outside of their sawmill? They might seem a bit more friendly, but they’ll still use their tools to hunt you down…

2019 introduced the Buckwheats through Creek Freak Massacre, a brand new indoor maze. Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic stopped Creak Freak Massacre opening in 2020. Instead, Creek Freaks Unchained happened, a scare zone outside of the maze, around Rocky Express.

The scare zone encouraged guests to walk in one direction. Guests could encounter the Buckwheat family, including seeing their selection of weapons (or, as they would call them, tools), their moonshine collection as well as some of their lumber. There were plenty of opportunities for photos too. Oh, and their were still chainsaws, of course!

Creek Freaks Unchained featured a lot of humour, a highlight being the “Uber Wheats” van. 

With Creak Freak Massacre re-opening in 2021, the scare zone continued, albeit with less actors, and in a completely free roam layout. In 2022, with the Old Town area mostly shut off to prepare for construction of Hyperia, Creek Freaks Unchained became a roaming team, protesting against the building of “Project Exomdus”. The Buckwheats also returned in 2023, witha ‘Buckwheat Brunch’ VIP extra.
